Keynote Speaking & Workshops - Major Topics
My experience with working with Greg was extremely positive. Not only is he the Yoda of design, he also is an all around great guy. Kind, helpful, reliable- you name it! I’m sure Greg will continue to excel and push his boundaries of excellence in all his future UI endeavors.
I had a chance to take Greg’s Mobile Agile UX workshop recently. As a world-class subject matter expert and author in Mobile UX design, Greg’s knowledge of the subject is profound and his ability to explain complex concepts is outstanding. Greg is very hands-on in his approach and was able to help significantly enhance my knowledge about the Agile approach to UX design. I strongly recommend Greg’s book and his workshop to those that seek to become proficient in the area.
Greg is an excellent technologist. Besides delivering top quality applications, he showed leadership in the areas of user interface research and design as well as release process design.
Several years Greg did some consult work with Open Source on our site. His design suggestions, which included thumbnail images, helped conversion quite a bit. Soon our competition copied and, in some cases, upgraded their search. All the new search interfaces, however, were limited in the amount of image data they could show at one time. That led us, using Greg’s original ideas, to the idea of a thumbnail of a thumbnail. In our industry and for our type of images I think it is very valuable information. Greg was able to provide very insightful ideas with a limited knowledge of our company and based on a few brief conversations. I am also a big fan of his book, Designing Search.
Greg is an excellent UX/UI design instructor – I enjoyed his UX/UI Design class at SF State. His class helped to teach me about planning mobile products in a way that saves time, low-cost paper prototyping and testing of mobile designs, working in an Agile design team, and presenting the results. Taking Greg’s class really helped to open doors for me in my professional career.
Greg designed a lot of improvements that made the user experience way more involving and efficient. We are not talking about just visual embellishment here, this app was about interacting at once with a hundred thousand live data items! Greg is a genius in making extremely complex user interaction just simple and effective! Beside his UI design capabilities, Greg is a great person to work with, really able to collect and synthesize the contribution of multiple and non-technical sources in a superior form.
The LeanUX mobile-first design course allowed me to gain an understanding of the importance of an efficiently designed site and provided me with the tools to implement it. During a very dynamic and hands-on course, I was guided to analyze, recommend and implement changes in order to improve navigability and ease of use in different sites.
Greg’s ability in understanding the context, drive the description of the personas and identify the key interactions [on my IIoT/Analytics Project] was amazing. What I appreciated the most was his ability to lead a group of more than 10 people, listening to the inputs of each and every one of them and then brilliantly synthesize everything in an effective UX/UI.
Greg was the right person at the right time for us this summer for our iOS7 design recommendations and especially Android UI compliance. He worked seamlessly and independently with various teams and projects across Intuit: TaxCaster iOS7, GoPayment Android, Mint, TaxCaster Android, Tax Online Accountant for Mobile (TOM), SnapTax, Weave Android – many of which were featured on the iTunes App Store and GooglePlay. Working directly through our Core Technology Office, Greg’s design direction was timely, efficient, clear, and spot-on. I look forward to working more with Greg in the future as UI requirements and needs are constantly changing in the fast-paced smartphone and tablet market. Thanks, Greg for all the hard work!
Greg is an experienced, hard-working design researcher. He is a “big picture” person, with a great passion for design process and a sincere eagerness to learn from people. His kindness, honesty and empathy make him the right person to lead insightful participatory design sessions and to have findings communicated in a tangible and consumable way. Perhaps the only thing that surpasses his professionalism is his passion for great literature and knowledge about the most diverse topics. I always look forward to a mind-opening conversation with him.
Greg’s Designing for Mobile workshop at Marquette was the best hands-on workshop I’ve attended this year. In seven hours, Greg loaded us up with useful tools and design patterns sharing the knowledge he gained designing for firms like E-bay, Groupon, and Wells Fargo. He really knows his stuff. I highly recommend his workshop.
I took Greg’s SFSU UXD course. Greg was extremely helpful in giving me the guidance to make my career transition from sales to UXD. He continued to help me after the course was over and is still to this day someone I can turn to for advice. It took a lot of work, drive, and focus but today I am a UX Designer for a San Francisco startup. I recommend his course for anyone who is looking to become a designer or wanting to become a better designer.
Upcoming videoconference: “Designing Conversational Interfaces”, November 14th, 11am ET
Greg hosts the discussion of key aspects of the conversational bot experience and conversational UI best practices. You’ll learn: how to pick the right bot framework, how to use basic building blocks of bot dialog (Intents, Entities, Dialogs) to create conversational UIs, and the key importance of context and channels (Mobile, Wearables, etc.) for shaping the conversational experience. We’ll spend the bulk of time on what is “right around the bend” in the near-future of conversational UIs. From practical tips you can put to work immediately, to inspiration for your next project, be prepared to come away saying “Bot Future so Bright, Gotta Wear Ear-Muffs!”
