Field Studies Research
Testing the interface at home, office, metro/bus, or any place where the system activities normally happen. Although more expensive, allows for the most complete, holistic understanding of the current experience, mental models and all key artifacts in context. Allows to answer the deep “why are people having this issue?” questions and yields a treasure-trove of ideas on how to improve the interface.
